Session ID:

Transitioning from Unintelligible to Intelligent Documentation

2:30pm - 3:30pm Monday, February 11
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center

Since 1995 the primary driver of what clinicians document has been regulatory; and for the past decade, the primary enabler of how clinicians document has been technology. While health IT has been evolving at a rapid pace, regulatory barriers have impeded their widespread adoption. That is now changing. The presenters will address how clinicians can leverage a simplified regulatory environment and evolution in artificial intelligence to make documentation and EHR use less burdensome and more effective.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the impact of the E&M documentation guidelines on medical documentation and EHR functionality
  • Compare the newly modified E&M guidelines with the prior guidelines
  • Describe how AI can be used to formulate cogent documentation
  • Assess an example of AI-assisted documentation
  • Discuss the impact of E&M reform and Artificial Intelligence on EHR usability and usefulness
