Transforming IT: The Journey to Clinical Innovation

3:00pm - 4:00pm Thursday, March 8
Las Vegas - Venetian Convention Center
Galileo 901

Description

Five years ago, the Halifax Health IT department was in shambles. Morale was dismal and the attrition rate had hit 30%. Not surprisingly, staff confidence in the department had bottomed out. Today, Halifax is recognized as the #5 Best Place to Work in IT in midsized organizations by Computerworld, and morale and trust in the IT department have never been higher. They were #2 last year and #10 the year before. This session will detail how Halifax achieved this unprecedented change. By simplifying the IT strategy to four key objectives and overcoming provider resistance to new technology, the speaker will explain the plans that Halifax implemented to create a highly functioning IT department, and highlight the key leadership principles that resulted in higher levels of trust, confidence, engagement, empowerment, and ultimately retention of IT team members. Initiatives to gain trust and confidence from the Hospital will also be presented.
