Telestroke Continuum of Care: EMS Through Discharge Clinic

4:00pm - 5:00pm Thursday, February 14
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W208C

Description

Telestroke was initiated in South Carolina to assist in reducing the rate of morbidity and mortality by allowing neuro-specialists the opportunity to provide recommendations to local providers in rural communities. The development and implementation of telemedicine at the Medical University of South Carolina has created a successful comprehensive system of care with telestroke technology in EMS Units, Emergency Departments, hospitals and outpatient clinics throughout the state. This session will share the challenges and achievements of this unique continuum of care practice model as it continues to develop and meet the needs of the citizens of South Carolina. It will look through the lens of the patient experience along the continuum of care and discuss the overall benefits of technology to improve both patient experience and outcomes.
