Session ID:

Telehealth Reimbursement: The Times They Are a Changin'!

4:00pm - 5:00pm Wednesday, February 13
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center

Over the past 10 years, telehealth has been gaining stream, yet it still hasn’t been widely adopted or reached its full potential largely because there are still some roadblocks, particularly with reimbursement. Much preceding legislation placed significant restrictions on reimbursement for telehealth services, hindering the adoption of telehealth in prior years. With increasing legislation being passed in favor of telehealth reimbursement, telehealth services will be further implemented into the healthcare system, revolutionizing the quality and amount of care that is provided to not only those who might not be able to access care without telehealth, but also to those living in urban areas. In this interactive session, the speakers will provide an overview of recently passed legislation in favor of telehealth reimbursement and share findings from a national survey that examines how health systems are adjusting their virtual care strategies as a response.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the changing reimbursement landscape for telehealth
  • Assess recent additions to telehealth reimbursement laws to capture the government’s increasing acceptance and support of telehealth
  • Demonstrate, through key findings of a national survey, how healthcare providers are currently addressing telehealth reimbursement in order to provide evidence of how the changing legislation is affecting how providers utilize telehealth
  • Identify how to take advantage of the policy changes to maximize billing/revenue opportunities
