Description

Standards based services at VA are empowering the future of clinical care through interoperability, providing a comprehensive view of legacy DoD and VistA data, Cerner data and the integration of COTS products and wearable devices. VA is using HL7 FHIR to power data exchange with DoD, yielding significant benefits to clinicians and Veterans. As modernization takes hold, interoperability becomes even more essential. This demonstration examines the use case of one Veteran undergoing a surgical encounter while receiving healthcare from VA, DoD and Community Care partners. This demonstration examines the clinical use case of a Veteran patient undergoing a surgical procedure, while simultaneously receiving healthcare services from VA, DoD, and Community Care partners. Leveraging LVS, we will create the comprehensive clinical record that would support this multi-provider, multi-data source encounter. Consolidated in a mobile based, SMART on FHIR compatible, viewer application clinical data from Cerner, legacy systems and wearables.
