Session ID:

Goodbye Legacy Tech, Hello Cloud-Based EMPI for 15 Million Patients

11:45am - 12:15pm Monday, February 11
Orlando - Rosen Centre
Rosen Centre Executive I

Healthcare organizations are increasingly turning to cloud-based solutions to replace legacy on-premises technologies and to stay innovative and competitive in a dynamic healthcare ecosystem.

In this case study, attendees will learn how the nation’s largest public health information exchange (HIE), Healthix, which covers thousands of facilities and more than 15 million patients, deployed a cloud-based enterprise master patient index (EMPI) solution to replace its legacy on-premises EMPI technology.

For Healthix, as CIO Todd Rogow will explain, the impetus to pursue a cloud-based software solution included cost savings, operational efficiencies, reduced maintenance, improved security, easier interoperability through APIs, and, of course, better matching.

Learning Objectives:
• Scalability is the new speed.
• Some features are only possible with technology built in the cloud.
• Keys to implementation success and customer satisfaction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify how cyber-attacks were actually executed and understand cyber-attack trends
  • Explain how effective response to cyber-attacks can mitigate the impact and damage
  • Discuss what we may expect in the coming year regarding cyber-attacks in the healthcare space
  • State lessons learned from the past to assist with the present and what is anticipated in the future
