Description

Understand the cyber security risks and impacts to the health sector as a part of our nation's critical infrastructure. Review what we learned from recent cyber-attacks and discuss some of the evolving initiatives which help the federal government engage with our sector partners.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Discuss the role of HHS in collaborating with the healthcare and public health (HPH) sector to protect critical cyber infrastructure
  • Provide current status of the voluntary, industry-led consensus-based cybersecurity guidance required under Section 405(d) of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015
  • Discuss the status of federal and industry initiatives aligned with the Healthcare Industry Cybersecurity Task Force report released in June 2017
  • Highlight the evolving role of the Healthcare Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (HCCIC) in HPH Sector cybersecurity and information sharing, including alignment with other federal efforts
  • Review the impact and challenges of cyber-attacks to the HPH sector, what we are learning and how we are adapting
