Description

In 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched the “Meaningful Measures” initiative to improve outcomes for patients and their families while also reducing burden on health care providers. As CMS continues to use this framework, the primary goals are to continue to coordinate and streamline measures while reducing the burden of reporting for providers, encourage innovation, empower patients, and improve the CMS customer experience.

  • Discuss the purposes of the Meaningful Measures initiative
  • Describe the Meaningful Measures framework and how CMS uses it to streamline quality measures across its quality reporting programs
  • Identify how to update and improve the Meaningful Measures framework to focus on measures that matter most to clinicians and patients
