Description

In the rapidly evolving precision medicine field, there is no single path to success. A clinical and business intelligence framework is needed to manage the complex ecosystem of precision medicine, which encompasses genomic, clinical, environmental and lifestyle factors to provide disease treatment and prevention for patients. This session discusses the route taken by some early explorers on their journey towards precision medicine.
This session is part of a special program called Precision Medicine Symposium: Journey to the Summit Using Clinical and Business Intelligence. Extra fees and separate registration is required.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the key objectives and goals for precision medicine for your institution such as genetic risk assessment, diagnosis based upon biomarkers and molecular pathways, targeted therapies, and clinical research
  • Assess the availability of key information for precision medicine in terms of content, format, interoperability, accessibility, data standards and access
  • Describe how organizations perform a gap analysis of the enterprise data infrastructure, existing electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, laboratory and other systems to identify the steps that may be needed to move forward with precision medicine and clinical analytics
  • Discuss possible partnerships with academic and clinical research organizations, life sciences companies, hospital/outpatient networks, technology innovation groups and government organizations to obtain expertise and resources for collaboration and funding
