Thomas Howell, MD, the Mayo Clinic’s medical director for patient experience, closes out the Patient Engagement & Experience Summit. In his talk, Dr. Howell shares insights from his career as a physician and his work at Mayo, addressing why, when it comes to improving the patient experience, leadership is key, as is connecting organizational values to the individual’s priorities.

He’ll also remind attendees that as a tenet of care, patient experience, dates back at least as far as Hippocrates, who said:  “I will remember that there is an art to medicine and that warmth and empathy are more important than the surgeon’s knife.”
