Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi being a green field hospital, had no prior inventory management process or supply procurement contracts. In the implementation phase, Epic EMR OR module was designed to integrate with the Lawson inventory management system, with an aim to automate the availability of surgical supplies in Epic EMR for preference cards build and streamline Nursing documentation after go-live. Upon go-live, it was found that there were inaccurate and incomplete supply information in Epic and Lawson, that prevented OR charges to be dropped for billing, as per the regional payor requirements. This case study is our analysis of the root causes and the solutions deployed to mitigate the issues encountered and streamline the OR charging process. This study will outline the improvements made from a people, process and technology perspective
