Session ID:

Opening Keynote: The Scope, Challenges, and Complexity in Support of the Military Medical Care Mission

8:45am - 9:45am Monday, February 11
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center

The role of military medicine is to: support the warfighter, care for warfighter families and care for patients. Military medicine must ensure a medically ready force that goes to war and a ready medical force that is trained and deployable. Combatant Commanders require the technology, systems and communication that enable quick response care, evacuation from the battlefield, and coordination with partner nations. Responding to world-wide medical missions requires collaboration and coordination with our partners and is critical to mission success.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe military medicine in terms of its critical mission focus, its priorities and interdependencies as a system of care
  • Explain the human and technology demands of supporting the military medical mission at home and deployed
  • Compare and contrast how partner nations at home and deployed support their warfighters in the context of military medicine and joint partnership challenges within Theater
