Medicare Claims Data APIs From CMS

8:30am - 9:30am Wednesday, March 11
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W307A

Description

CMS and USDS will provide an overview of the new FHIR-based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) developed under the MyHealthEData initiative. These APIs ensure healthcare decision-makers who interact with CMS have access to Medicare fee-for-service claims data. Speakers will begin by discussing Blue Button 2.0, a developer-friendly API that enables Medicare beneficiaries to connect their claims data to the applications, services, and research programs they trust. Next, they will provide an overview of the Beneficiary Claims Data API, which allows Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations to retrieve bulk Medicare claims data related to their assigned beneficiaries. Finally, speakers will update the audience on Data at the Point of Care, a pilot API program that enables clinicians to deliver high quality care directly to beneficiaries by making a patient’s Medicare claims data available to the provider for treatment purposes.

Learning Objectives

  • Distinguish between the three CMS claims data APIs
  • Explain CMS’ goals for the MyHealthEData initiative
