Description

Greater Baltimore Medical Center set a goal to improve surgical outcomes. The organization chose to participate in the American College of Surgeon’s National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. With implementation of a rigorous technology based data collection and reporting structure, evidenced based data driven results were able to steadily reduce SSI rates over the next 5 years.

  • Apply Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles to highlight problems, determine productive interventions, test them, and turn them into standard work
  • Discuss how EHRs can be used to create standard work by creating evidence based ordersets and dashboards to streamline practice
