Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has embarked on a major initiative to radically transform how they acquire, retain and engage patients. They have introduced the "Moneyball" philosophy to their go-to-market approach. LVHN recognized that their payer mix is increasingly Medicare and they needed to drive more commercial patients. With the help of a healthcare customer relationship management solution, they are now leveraging data and insights to acquire new patients and to determine where LVHN will see the greatest potential return on investment. The key to the transformation was a shift in LVHN’s marketing function. Marketing took on the role of Billy Beane (The Oakland A’s GM) and shifted focus from subjective metrics, to tracking and measuring ROI, and showing how targeted patient outreach, engagement, and conversion of those patients generates new revenue.
