Jumping to Lightspeed with a Web-Based EHR: Don’t Go Solo

4:15pm - 5:15pm Tuesday, February 12
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W204A

Description

After 16 years using a legacy electronic health record system, Kalispell Regional Healthcare embarked on the implementation of new software in 2015. This included a web-based ambulatory management solution and a realignment of the organization’s information and technology structure from multiple platforms to a single integrated EHR. The main challenge for Kalispell Regional was determining how best to implement a new EHR for a network of practices across a large geographic area. The organization had to ensure consistent documentation while maintaining flexibility to support each discipline’s unique needs. Kalispell Regional also transitioned its EHR system to a web-based platform using tablets and mobile devices, a fundamental shift in how Kalispell delivered patient care. In this session, key decisions on governance, training and technology that resulted in an effective EHR implementation will be identified along with lessons learned through this process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the organizational goals set for implementation of the new EHR platform
  • Analyze the governance decisions made in support of the organization’s objectives for the EHR implementation
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies used to meet the organization’s objectives, including management of internal and external communications; establishment of new clinical, business, and executive processes; and implementation of role-based security protocols
