IT’s Role in Patient Care and Comfort

10:00am - 11:00am Thursday, March 12
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W330A

Description

Technology can have a major impact on patient, staff and visitor safety throughout a hospital, but implementing connected solutions can have a negative impact if not handled properly. For hospitals aiming to become a smart healthcare facility, video, analytics, access control, and audio solutions are essential; however, they require coordination between the typically siloed IT and physical security teams to not open up the network to larger cybersecurity vulnerabilities or patient data regulation issues. In this session, the speakers will explain how physical security and IT teams can work together more seamlessly to provide value for both sides. Attendees will get the perspective of the physical security side and hear what challenges they are faced with, what they are hoping to achieve via technology and their own experiences of working with IT teams.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize how to work more seamlessly with physical security departments to improve overall security and operations
  • Identify physical security challenges created by IT teams and vice versa
  • Create a plan to incorporate physical security teams into IT decisions and vice versa, where appropriate
