This session describes a homegrown healthcare information management system with a generous and well documented return on investment (ROI). This bed management system is built-off of Lawrence General Hospital's electronic health record (EHR) and Apple iPods. The new workflow facilitated by Health IT has introduced even greater process improvement. Over 6-months, a multi-disciplinary team including Nursing, Environmental Services, Information Systems, Admitting, Registration and Operations convened under senior leadership to develop, pilot and roll-out the new system. This solution has been critical in increasing the percentage of patients discharged by 3pm by nearly 100%. This and other documented performance outcomes are presented in this process improvement journey.
