Medical imaging plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients at UC San Diego Health with an average volume of about 70,000 inbound studies per year and 15,000 outbound studies per year. With such a large volume of imaging on CDs, UC San Diego Health’s film library struggled to keep up with the demands of CD burning, ingestion, and matching of patient data often leading to back-logs, missed revenue opportunities, and most importantly, delays in clinical care. It was this backdrop of an expanding network and the increasing need to access priors in an effort to reduce duplicate imaging that initiated UC San Diego Health's move to a cloud-based solution for image management. During this presentation, the audience will hear how they were able to balance their needs for a system that would make imaging available when and where it was needed and match patient data rapidly.

This session is part of a special program called HIMSS20 Cloud Computing Forum. Extra fees and separate registration is required.
