Session ID:

Importance of Data Quality – The Clinician Requirement

11:30am - 8:00pm Wednesday, March 7
Las Vegas - Sands Convention Center
Interoperability Showcase|11955| VA Area

The key to improving Veterans’ outcomes is driven by providing valid data to clinicians. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) supports Data Quality assurance activities in two key areas of the Veterans Health Information Exchange Program’s eHealth Exchange: 1) Assessing C-CDA document data quality during partner onboarding and sustainment, and 2) C-CDA Document Creation and C-CDA Document Consumption. When the program assesses C-CDA document data quality during partner onboarding and sustainment, clinicians are confident in using all available data in designing Veterans’ treatment plans. VHIE’s Data Quality Program communication approach presents information exchange partner content observations, allowing these partners to develop consensus on next steps to improve data and content. Data quality assessment must be agnostic to the data presentation style, whether contained in C-CDA type templates or within FHIR implementations.
