Description

Once an LTPAC provider organization has made the decision to migrate to a new health IT system, its time to pull the “trigger”, gather the various end-user types, and begin the process. Join us in this session as we continue to use the CAHIMS outline to deepen our understanding of HIT in the LTPAC environment by looking at system Selection, Implementation, Support, and Maintenance needs and challenges. Topics in this session include the development of solution selection activities, knowledge transfer techniques and downtime management approaches.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Define key differences between LTPAC and traditional healthcare provider organizations from a basic selection, implementation, support and maintenance approach
  • Expound at least one lesson LTPAC providers have recounted when strategies learned from the CAHIMS approach were used guide their system selection, implementation, support and maintenance effort
  • Examine the benefits of selection, implementation, support and maintenance in health IT system migration when empowered by CAHIMS guidance & strategies
