In the digital age, the concept of work-life balance is evolving—we’re connected 24/7 by our communication technology and responsibilities. Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos has coined a new term: Work-Life Harmony. The balance of how much energy we channel into our work and personal lives is a moving target. While much of the work-life harmony change is starting to happen at an organization-wide level in many progressive companies, healthcare leaders can start with themselves and their teams now by focusing on the following: "Clarify Where You’re Headed"; "Set the State for Peak Performance"; and "Work Smarter, Not Harder." By making changes that enable a reinvention of how staff use their time by streamlining workflows, upgrading communication tools, and staying up-to-date on leading-edge, leadership concepts, healthcare IT leaders can create workplace cultures that enables their teams to perform at peak levels, actualize their personal goals, and nourish their spirits.
