Finding Solutions Before Problems: AI, Ethics and Experience

10:45am - 11:45am Friday, March 13
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W303A

Description

Artificial intelligence (AI) will revolutionize healthcare by not only detecting diseases earlier and more accurately, but also by altering the way healthcare systems address the medical and social needs of patients, families, and professional caregivers. As AI technologies rapidly develop, we need to carefully consider the ethics of how and why these innovations are created and deployed. Dr. Rose will discuss the ethical implications of using AI in healthcare, focusing on the implications on how AI may impact patient and provider experience. Specifically, Dr. Rose will outline how different ethical frameworks can be applied to AI, including medical ethics, public health ethics, and research ethics, and she will provide clear recommendations that can be used in the development of ethical AI. This presentation will include case examples, and also illuminate the ways empirical research can help resolve the potential ethical pitfalls of using AI in various healthcare settings. This will be a dynamic and engaging presentation.
