Disrupt Advocacy: Put What You Know to Work for Patients

6:00pm - 7:00pm Wednesday, March 7
Las Vegas - Venetian Convention Center
Marcello 4405

Description

Advocacy is a tool used to initiate policy change at the federal or state level. A robust program can provide the health IT community with the opportunity to state its case for sustaining delivery system reform efforts and the transformation of healthcare. Developing a cohesive message to share with federal and state officials is imperative to advance this cause. However, the healthcare enterprise is at an inflection point as these officials demand improved outcomes for patients, while seeking to maximize their return on investment and the effectiveness of public payment. This session will demonstrate how you can harness your internal assets and position your healthcare facility to become a more strategic advocate that can be a resource to officials across government. As the push toward value-based care delivery continues, those advocates that are able to relay a stronger case in support of their efforts will prove more beneficial to patients and their entire community.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the value that a sustained advocacy program can provide to your facility or patients in your community
  • Formulate how to assemble data and additional resources that support your cause and broader plans
  • Analyze the steps needed to build and grow an advocacy program that supports health IT’s expanded significance
  • Develop the core competencies necessary for health IT professionals to become advocates for delivery system reform and healthcare transformation efforts
