Review the business case and workflow surrounding the integration of diabetic retinopathy screening in the primary care setting. Discuss program design, director considerations, tracking outcomes and impact on patient care and quality outcomes. Review the role of analytics to best utilize scarce resources and impact the greatest number of patients. Demonstrate how the use of an alternative model for specialty care immediately impacted patient engagement and quality outcomes. Provide financial data for consideration in those settings wanting to adopt this screening option. Highlight areas were staff accountability is critical and the need to identify community partnerships.
