Deriving Value from Patient Flow Analytics

8:30am - 9:30am Thursday, February 14
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W308A

Description

As pressure on hospital systems builds due to aging populations and increased prevalence of chronic diseases, health services are increasingly turning to data analytics driven approaches to inform much needed system evaluation and redesign, address crowding, improve flow through hospitals, and deliver improved patient outcomes. This session discusses health analytics solutions delivered in the Australian health landscape by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s national science agency. The work being presented has resulted in several high impact journal and conference publications and generated commercial and translational impacts. This speakers will focus on the science and the learnings identified and provide important take home messages for problem owners (i.e. health services) and solutions providers (vendors, researchers, etc.) seeking analytics driven approaches to improving healthcare efficiency and patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify strategies to ensure effective impact from developed health analytics solutions
  • Form effective partnerships between problem solvers and problem owners to ensure success
  • Apply appropriate statistical rigor in planning and executing data science projects
  • Identify strategies to decongest the health system
