From Data to Health: A Framework for PGx EHR Integration

11:30am - 12:30pm Thursday, March 12
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W414D

Description

At this point in the healthcare industry, the concept of precision medicine is well defined as a focus. According to the Precision Medicine Initiative, it is "an emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person." However, the question remains: what does it take to begin realizing this type of personalized care? Though this is a promising development in the healthcare field, it demands significant resource allocation and process improvements, thus creating major challenges as existing systems attempt to scale as well as manage and harmonize genetic and clinical data in a secure environment. To address this paradigm shift, a framework was created for certified, seamless workflows to manage, process and analyze raw genetic data from machine output to clinical report generation. During this session, the speakers will discuss the insights gained while building this system, and what it takes to tackle industry challenges, specifically how to implement successful data management systems in a clinical setting.Air More Uptempo
