Description

The Dubai Health Authority invested in the implementation of an electronic medical record program across all the Government health facilities. This execution commenced in 2015 was completed in 2017. Following this go live, the focus has been on optimizing the system to meet both the needs of end users and the community. Three projects have been developed to improve patient outcomes using artificial intelligence and predictive analytics. These include identification of sepsis, deteriorating patients, and "no shows" for outpatient appointments. Sepsis is the leading cause of death of patients in hospitals. Being able to accurately predict patients at risk of sepsis allows rapid ordering of appropriate diagnostic tests and implementation of treatment. Using artificial intelligence algorithms, vital signs and diagnostic tests are examined and have been able to predict patients at risk of deteriorating 20 hours in advance. Using AI algorithms, specific details are shown to predict the likelihood of patients "not attending" appointments.
