Creating Value via Analytics and AI-Driven Interactive Radiology Reports

6:00pm - 7:00pm Wednesday, March 7
Las Vegas - Venetian Convention Center
Murano 3304

Description

The watchword in medicine today is value. Radiological images and the radiologists’ reports are undoubtedly valuable already, but offer many opportunities for improvement. There have been recent major advances in reporting. Multimedia interactive reports include images, structured data like charts and graphs, and hyperlinks from report text to images in the PACS. Artificial Intelligence is used to assist study interpretation and automating data input to reports. Natural Language Processing is applied to narrative reports to extract semantics during dictation. Collaboration tools and opportunity for referrers to rate the report are enabled directly from the report. Experience implementing these features at two major medical centers is examined to demonstrate how they add measurable value, with the potential to improve efficiency and generate structured data for business process analytics, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, population health, and improvements in care delivery.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate advances in radiology reporting including interactivity, analytics, and the integration of artificial intelligence
  • Describe the value and benefits achieved through these advances on medical care
  • Illustrate how advanced radiology reports are used by care providers in the hospital environment
