Connected Care: VA, Virtual Health and the Patient Experience

3:00pm - 4:00pm Wednesday, March 7
Las Vegas - Venetian Convention Center
Delfino 4002

Description

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest integrated national healthcare system in the United States and has been a leader in Connected Health and Telehealth for many years. As the digital health industry continues to evolve, VA is focused on maturing its consumer health information technology platform. As technology becomes increasingly embedded in the daily lives of both Veterans and healthcare teams, solutions increasingly must anticipate and support the needs of the entire healthcare community. Technology should fade into the background; the consumer and provider experience should sit squarely in the foreground. This session focuses on the next phase of VA’s digital transformation –the integration of mobile, telehealth and electronic health record (EHR) tools to provide a seamless experience of care delivery that gives Veterans and care teams a cohesive system to access, manage and track health holistically over time.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain VA’s current strategy for patient engagement through digital technologies
  • Summarize VA’s best practices, challenges and opportunities relating to building a comprehensive digital health program
  • Describe VA’s strategy for information and knowledge-sharing with VA’s consumers and Veterans
  • Compare the needs and preferences of consumers regarding digital access to care and information across a wide range of patient demographics
  • Discuss incorporating patient generated data into clinician workflow
