Connected Care As an Access and Patient Engagement Strategy

1:30pm - 2:30pm Tuesday, March 10
Orlando - Orange County Convention Center
W311E

Description

VA has invested heavily in digital technologies to engage and empower patients between their visits and to bring healthcare delivery to Veterans where they are, in their homes and communities. With more than 325,000 employees at its 150 VA Medical Centers and 1,400 community-based clinical settings, the Department of Veterans Affairs cares for more than 9 million Veterans each year all across the country. VA's population provides a great opportunity for VA to make enterprise-wide changes to help deliver access to patients when and where they are and how they want it. Connected Care at VA is doing just that.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how VA approached its mandate to increase telehealth while making community care available to more Veterans
  • Demonstrate how VA adapted its systems to use technology to manage change and increase patient engagement issues across its network
