Dr. DeSalvo will reflect on the accomplishments of the past decade with regard to HIT - what was accomplished, what we learned. and where we are heading. She will discuss the Federal vision and how the incentive program shaped adoption in positive ways as well as unintended consequences. Dr DeSalvo will share her fresh perspective on how new entrants like Google may shape the future. A particular emphasis will be placed on HIT and its impact on minority and underserved populations, the role of social determinants,  and how our communities can get involved.
This session is part of a special program called National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved Summit. Extra fees and separate registration is required.

  • Interpret the components of the NHIT pillars and how they combine to support optimization of HIT use in disparity populations
  • Identify current state key challenges with regard to workforce, policy, innovation and research
  • Recognize opportunities for under-served populations to take leadership in these areas and contribute to the broader agenda
