Healthcare and technology professionals know better than anyone the challenges of preparing for the future while confronting present circumstances. As we all continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of the global HIMSS community, our employees and local residents of our conference location remain our top priority. That’s why we’re moving HIMSS21 to August 9-13, 2021.

Attendee FAQs:

How is HIMSS addressing safety and health concerns for the August event?

As HIMSS prepares for HIMSS21, we will be closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak, and at a minimum, will follow CDC and WHO guidelines to develop a comprehensive on-site preparedness plan to address the safety and well-being of all attendees. We will provide details of the on-site preparedness plan to all attendees and members in the coming months.

When will I be able to register?

Registration will open in January 2021. HIMSS20 paid registrations will be transferred to HIMSS21, and all registrants will receive further details and instructions regarding the registration process later this fall.

When will I be able to book a hotel?

Hotel reservations for attendees are now open through our only official housing partner, onPeak.

When will the Call for Proposals occur?

  • The Call for Proposals for General Education Sessions is now closed.
  • The Call for Proposals for Views From the Top (sponsored) will open in November 2020.
  • The Call for Proposals for Optional Events will open in January 2021.

What venue will host HIMSS21?

The venues for HIMSS21 remain the same, despite the date change to August. Programming, exhibits and events will be held across the Venetian-Sands Expo Center, Caesars Forum Conference Center and Wynn in Las Vegas.

Will HIMSS22 take place in August as well?

No, at this time we expect that the 2022 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition will return to the usual schedule, taking place in March 2022 in Orlando.

Why are you announcing the move to August of 2021 now?

We announced the new 2021 conference dates as soon as we were able to confirm the venue availability for August. Rescheduling the conference required many complicated logistics, and HIMSS staff worked to resolve those as quickly as possible so we could communicate the changes to you now.

What were the HIMSS20 terms and conditions related to paid registration fees in the case of conference cancellation?

As part of the online registration process, all paid attendee registrants received and agreed to terms and conditions including a written cancellation policy stating, “Should the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference be canceled, your registration fee will not be refunded, but will automatically be applied to the next HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition.” We can now reconfirm that all HIMSS20 paid registrants will be automatically registered for HIMSS21, August 9-13, 2021 in Las Vegas.

I don’t want my HIMSS20 registration to be transferred to the HIMSS21 conference. Can I get a refund?

We are not currently offering refunds for HIMSS20 registration or optional event fees, as stated in the cancellation policy of the HIMSS20 attendee registration agreement.

With HIMSS21 scheduled to take place in August 2021, I’m not available to attend the conference. Can I get a refund?

Per the terms and conditions of your HIMSS20 conference registration, registration and optional event fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to other individuals. We hope the extra lead time before the 2021 conference will help you accommodate our dates in August 2021.

Why did HIMSS not refund paid Client badges from HIMSS20?

Will my exhibitor paid badge* transfer over?

Yes, as long as the company is exhibiting at HIMSS21, your paid exhibitor badge will be added to the company’s complimentary allotment.

I paid for my exhibitor badge* ($225) with my own credit card and now my company is not exhibiting. What happens to my badge?

You will not receive a refund for the paid exhibitor badge. If company exhibits, your paid exhibitor badge will be added to the company’s complimentary allotment.

What if staffing has changed, can we use previously purchased badges for new employees attending HIMSS21?

Yes, if you are a current HIMSS21 Exhibitor. This will increase your company’s complimentary total allotment.

Will my exhibitor complimentary badge transfer to HIMSS21?

Exhibitor complimentary badges will not transfer. Exhibitors will receive the designated complimentary allotment of badges per the square footage of booth space rented.

What will happen to the optional event I purchased myself with my complimentary exhibitor badge?

Paid Optional Events will transfer as a credit in the registrant’s name and can be applied to any optional event at HIMSS21. (Award Gala, Pre-Conference Events, Thursday Night Special Event)

What happens to the optional event purchased if I am unable to attend HIMSS21?

The credit is non-transferable and cannot be refunded.

What will happen to the Exhibitor Full Conference badges that were used for HIMSS20?

Full Conference badges will not transfer to HIMSS21. If they had paid optional events, the credit for the option event will transfer as a credit under the registrant’s name. 

What will happen to the Exhibitor Client Badges we purchased?

They will transfer over in the registrant’s name (Client).  The badge will not be linked to the Exhibiting Company. Exhibitor Client that had paid for an Optional Event(s) will transfer as a credit in the registrant’s name and can be applied to any optional event at HIMSS21. (Award Gala, Pre-Conference Events, Thursday Night Special Event)

What will happen to the Complimentary Exhibitor Client badges?

Complimentary Exhibitor Client badges will not transfer.

What is the cost of Exhibitor Booth Staff Paid badges for HIMSS21?

$240 per badge

What is the cost of Exhibitor Client Paid badges for HIMSS21?

$415 per badge until June 28, 2021 and then it will increase to $515 per badge.

Paid badge = paid a dollar amount to register for a badge
Exhibitor badge = complimentary badge with the purchase of booth space
