CHCIOCHCiO

This program qualifies for non-CHIME Continuing Education Units (CEU) towards the CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) Program. CHIME recognizes 1 hour of participation as equivalent to 1 CEU. CHIME members and Affiliates may claim their CEUs by entering them into the Self-Reporting Tool on the CHIME web site.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of a range of clinicians with an interest in health information technology who encompass various clinical specialties.

Educational Objectives 

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to implement healthcare IT and management systems through improved workflow and process improvement methodology.
  • Identify issues that impact patient safety and security in the healthcare enterprise and ambulatory practice.
  • Discuss issues that impact the future of health care information management such as:  improvement of patient safety, implementation of electronic record keeping, and healthcare legislation and regulation.

ACHE Qualified Education Credit

HIMSS is authorized to award 21.0 hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification, in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit should indicate their attendance when submitting an application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.
