Machine learning and AI have great promise in healthcare. They’ve already changed the landscape of how healthcare handles data and processes information. However, before the industry can deem machine learning and/or AI a success it needs to be able to measure the quality of information it is getting in return. Recently, UPMC has created a solution for measuring the quality of information by using natural language processing (NLP) that can speed up manual review and accurately automate quality reporting. Pamela Peele, chief analytics officer at UPMC Health Plan, and Rebecca Jacobson, vice president of analytics at UPMC, will discuss their solution and the importance of quality measurement throughout the industry.
