Consolidation across the healthcare provider industry continues, with 2019 closing out as a banner year in size and scope of transactions. All this M&A activity should lead to real value — delivering benefits in service expansion, care coordination, efficiencies and cost savings, capital avoidance, population health and digital transformation. However, hospitals and health systems often fall short of realizing their vision for the future enterprise — lost in the morass of regulatory approvals, negotiations, the complexities of various deal structures and “getting the deal done”— and fail to answer the most critical questions: “What is our future vision for what we can achieve together, and how are we planning to successfully execute?” IT plays a pivotal role in answering this question and delivering on the promise of the partnership. In this panel, senior executives from 4 diverse organizations will explore leading practices for technology to enable the goals of integration and avoid common pitfalls. Panelists will explore several dimensions including unlocking potential savings across the enterprise, advancing strategic imperatives and meeting digital health demands, as well as how they have set IT up to successfully deliver with time, cost and resource constraints.
