The current state of EHRs, and the lack of optimal input, updates, and change from a provider workload perspective, leads to added clinician frustration and increasing levels of burnout. Though there is much speculating on the future of AI in medicine and its perceived panacea for a broken medical system, the current state of AI-driven virtual assistants in a primary care setting can already make drastic improvements to patient care while preventing provider burnout by lifting many of these non-provider focused EHR tasks from the backs of providers. The presenter will share what he has learned by using AI virtual assistants in clinic including what allowed him to become the most efficient EHR provider in his organizations network of over 100 primary care and speciality clinics, how AI can be used today to decrease provider burnout, and find out what primary care providers actually want from AI.
