Organizations receiving Medicare payments are generally eligible for participation in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality Payment Program (QPP). Most organizations opt to participate in the Merit Based Incentive Payment Program (MIPS). MIPS-eligible organizations must make IT-related promoting interoperability (PI) implementation decisions annually in response to changes in CMS guidance. Resource conscious organizations, therefore, are obligated to develop a strategy to optimize their Medicare revenue enhancement consistent with organizational priorities, while not falling behind other high-performing organizations. This session will focus on how the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) models the financial consequences of each PI measure to prioritize resource allocation so that we can achieve the highest score possible given organizational constraints. Audience members can apply our model to maximize their own score under MIPS.
