As the nation’s largest and most geographically diverse healthcare system, VA continues to focus on ensuring that every Veteran has access to healthcare when and where they need it. Expanding telehealth at VA is a top priority. However, transforming the VA health system to support more telehealth instances required new policies, approaches, tools, training, and ongoing support to clinicians and patients alike. This presentation will explore VA’s approach to expanding telehealth, what works and doesn’t, for engaging clinicians and patients around the telehealth experience. It will have a future look at ensuring, that by 2020, all of the 9 million veteran patients who want to use telehealth can do so. It will also explore VA’s partner program, which brings organizations and companies into the fold in local communities, allowing VA to reach rural Veterans and those affected by natural disasters.
