Consumer-generated data (CGD) is increasingly being used to forecast health outcomes, risks, and healthcare utilization. In the absence of ethical standards to guide CGD use in healthcare analytics, there may be harms to patient privacy and autonomy, disruption of trust in the patient-provider relationship, or marginalization of individuals or populations. To address these ethical concerns and potential harms, this session will provide details around an ethical framework to guide CGD use in healthcare analytics. The speakers will provide an overview of the ethical framework, an actionable tool that healthcare organizations can proactively use in a manner that safeguards persons and populations.
