Five independent orthopedic practices merged to form OrthoVirginia, the state’s largest provider of orthopaedic and therapy care. As part of the merger, OrthoVirginia made a large investment in technology with implementation of a new Electronic Health Record (EHR). Physician satisfaction is key to our organization, so we decided to use a survey to measure satisfaction with our new EHR. The first survey in September of 2017 showed an overall poor experience with survey results at the 31st percentile for satisfaction within the U.S. demonstrating improvements needed. Three principal areas for improvement were identified: cost of technology, completeness of patient record and not utilizing the technology efficiently. This session will review how the CIO and CMIO worked together to implement and show measurable improvements in these three areas.
