Supply Chain is moving from the era of customized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Resource Planning Systems to cloud-based technologies. Organizations relied upon custom-developed business logic that integrated with their infrastructures to meet their business requirements. With the move to the cloud, the ability to customize goes away. Smart contracts, which have received renewed focus due to Blockchain, provide a vehicle for organizations to augment their existing data interchange systems while utilizing this technology to provide even more business value. This presentation will go over the history of EDI and ERP, why customizations bring risk, and how to implement smart contracts to address these risks and improve the overall security picture for health system supply chains.
