Implementing an EHR system is a multi-step effort, of which the most critical is staff training. Vendor-provided training and learning tools are invaluable, but they do not cover the custom-built functions, employee culture, and detailed patient care scenarios that are unique to your organization. To more comprehensively prepare our 30,000+ staff at Jefferson Health, we invested heavily and early on in multiple training and digital learning initiatives that kept employees engaged throughout the process; automated training management tasks; and ultimately helped Jefferson reduce time spent in the Go-live by 33%, trimmed physician onboarding time by 70%, and saved $1 million-plus. In this session, we will outline the process, partnerships, and infrastructure required to successfully deliver an effective EHR training program and custom-build the digital learning components that go with it.
