The codification in 5G standards / specifications has paved way for the North American commercial rollout of 5G technologies. Coupled with edge compute technology, 5G boasts the technical novelties (e.g. ultra-low latency, clinical-critical reliability) to actualize previously unrealizable healthcare use cases in telerobotics, extended reality, and real-time applications. In addition to actualizing novel use cases, 5G emerges as a powerful alternative to traditional WiFi and Ethernet technologies when architecting healthcare WLAN/LANs. Even with telecommunication operators, device manufacturers, and radio equipment manufacturers working in concert, there remains the challenge of enabling healthcare campus RF infrastructure to facilitate the next generation of cellular. Join us to explore real healthcare case studies to discover the technology, the challenges we face and the implications that 5G holds for our industry.
