The ability to make timely, effective improvements is necessary for staying competitive and complying within the heavily regulated healthcare industry. In a candid discussion with HIMSS attendees, Community Health Network (CHNw) will acknowledge how its own improvement initiatives were stymied by disparate methodologies and short-lived results until the health system identified a systematic approach that, aided by analytics, brought lasting change in a number of areas, including 34.5 percent relative reduction in mortality for patients with sepsis prior to admission, saving 124 lives while realizing $8.2 million in sepsis cost savings; realizing over $4 million in savings across different service lines; over $2.3 million savings in integrated primary care services; and significantly reducing opioid dispensation.
