Outdated technology and processes create challenges across an overburdened healthcare system. Those result in increased costs, alienated patients, and inferior outcomes across the healthcare system. Virtual health assistants and chatbots aim to improve the conversation between healthcare provides, payers and patients and put more information in the hands of the end users, to help healthcare organizations improve processes and reduce costs. However due to the uniqueness of the healthcare industry, there are many aspects to keep in mind when building chatbots for this industry. In this talk we will discuss best practices and considerations when implementing intelligent virtual health assistants, challenges and pitfalls, as well as see real-world use cases that help realize the promise of AI in healthcare.
