Columbia University Biomedical Informatics Associate Professor David Vawdrey wears multiple hats. In addition to his teaching and research duties, he serves as New York-Presbyterian’s assistant director of medical informatics services. In this role, he manages the organization’s EMR teams and is leading transformative work with artificial intelligence to optimize clinical documentation and outcomes. He’s also a key player in NYP’s embrace of telemedicine, AI, and robotics to drive down costs and optimize care.
David is an innovator with a cause, and when it comes to innovation, while there’s often plenty of buzz and hype, whether it’s AI or cloud computing, the goal is always the same: To make healthcare better and safer.
In this session, David will draw on his deep experience and discuss best practices for successful innovation. He’ll also share examples from his work at NYP to demonstrate how healthcare can use the cloud to be more effective, do more with less, help doctors and nurses deliver better care, and, importantly, empower patients.
