Gartner estimates that global cloud computing in healthcare will jump from $19 billion in 2018 to $45 billion in 2023. HIMSS’s own research indicates that resistance to the public cloud continues to decline: Over the past 12 months, providers have doubled the share of workloads deployed to the public cloud to 25%.
With the acceleration of cloud computing in healthcare as the backdrop, the 2020 Cloud Forum will continue to explore the cloud’s role as an enabler of healthcare transformation and innovation, which is critical to the HIMSS vision of realizing the full health of every human being and to reform health globally through information and technology. As pricing and competitive pressures mount, providers have become less risk adverse to cloud computing, but still have many questions about security and implementation. The forum will address those questions and demonstrate with real-life use cases how healthcare organizations have approached these concerns and barriers and migrated to the cloud to better adapt to market forces and achieve clinical and business goals.
