With companies like Amazon gearing up to enter and disrupt the market, healthcare providers need to embrace a consumer mindset—and fast. In a 2019 report, PwC reported that 78% of consumers are interested in having a menu of care options offered by multiple providers.

Increasingly, consumer-patients want access to more convenient and affordable care—whether it be things like virtual care, retail clinics, or home care. The Consumerization of Health Forum will examine the technology and strategies that provider organizations have deployed to build loyalty and a competitive advantage by giving consumers the same control and confidence they experience in the rest of their lives. As consumer desires continue to shape the direction of healthcare, the very nature of patient care will be transformed. The forum will show how this is already happening. Hosted by the Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHAlliance).

Key takeaways:

  • The ‘retailing’ of health
  • Tactics and technologies for personalization and engagement
  • Case studies on ‘consumerized’ approaches offering convenience, real-time insight, simplicity and interaction (e.g., on-demand services)
  • Best practices from other industries applied to health (retail, financial, agriculture, etc.)
