Accessibility at HIMSS19

How do I register for HIMSS19?

Register for the conference here. Badges can be picked up on-site and will be available at any registration counter or kiosk located at the Orange County Convention Center (West Building); at the Caribe Royale, Hilton, Hyatt, Rosen Centre, Rosen Plaza and Rosen Shingle Creek hotels; and at the airport in the baggage claim areas. A government-approved photo ID is required (a photocopy of your ID is acceptable).

Can I pre-register any disability-related needs?

Yes. You can add this to your registration under “special assistance needed,” and a member of the HIMSS meeting services team will contact you.

How can I get to the convention center?

HIMSS shuttle service is available from all hotels that are not within walking distance to the Orange County Convention Center. Shuttle routes and schedules can be found here. Not all vehicles are wheelchair accessible. If you require special assistance or an accessible vehicle, please call ETS (official HIMSS shuttle provider) at 877-884-2455. Please call 30 minutes before service is needed so ETS can dispatch an accessible vehicle to your route to ensure timely transportation to the convention center. If you have noted you will require special assistance with shuttles during the registration process, a representative from ETS will contact you prior to HIMSS19 to ensure you have transportation when needed.

Is there accessible parking available?

Yes. HIMSS19 takes place in the West Building of the Orange County Convention Center. Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are driving to the convention center, event-specific parking areas will be listed on roadway signage on International Drive, Universal Boulevard and the surrounding area. Is the convention center wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Entry to the Orange County Convention Center is wheelchair accessible. You may also reserve Scooters and wheelchairs in advance through Scootaround Mobility Solutions. Additional information regarding Scootaround can be found here

Are there accessible restrooms?

Yes. There are accessible restrooms throughout the Orange County Convention Center; you may use this map to locate them on the West Concourse. 

Is there elevator access?

Yes. There are passenger elevators throughout the Orange County Convention Center; you may use this map to locate them on the West Concourse.

Is there accessible seating?

Yes. Reserved seating will be provided in all education and keynote sessions for attendees with disabilities and their essential companions. Please check in with HIMSS staff on-site at the entry of each session to direct you to the designated seating section.

Is there accessible accommodation nearby?

Yes. All hotels within the HIMSS block can facilitate guests with disabilities or special needs. You can view a list of hotels here.

Can I request a badge for an essential companion?

Yes. If you require the assistance of your essential companion on-site at HIMSS19, please advise our meeting services team by emailing Byanca Ellul at bellul@himss.org. HIMSS will cover the cost of their registration fee.

Can I bring a sign language interpreter?

Yes. Should you require a sign language interpreter to attend HIMSS19 with you, they will need to be registered. Please note we are not able to provide sign language interpreters; however, HIMSS will cover the cost of their registration fee.
